A transformative initiative to support women in the construction industry
The new Building with Elles program by Les Elles de la construction is a transformative initiative designed to promote women’s access, integration, and retention in the construction industry. This program places particular emphasis on women’s health, well-being, and economic autonomy, thanks to financial support from the Secrétariat à la condition féminine. It reflects a concrete commitment to improving working conditions and career paths for women, supporting their full participation in the sector.
The project unfolds across three complementary pillars: women’s health and well-being in the workplace, business start-ups and takeovers, and a public awareness campaign aimed at challenging gender stereotypes. These actions aim to create lasting change in industry perceptions, strengthen inclusion, and foster a more equitable work culture where women can fully exercise leadership and contribute to the sector’s evolution.
“Together, let’s support women’s health, well-being, and economic empowerment to build a more inclusive construction industry.”
A commitment to women’s health, well-being, and gender equality
The Building with Elles program pursues several key objectives:
Promote equality in the construction industry and challenge gender stereotypes.
Improve women’s health and well-being by equipping workplaces and addressing their specific realities.
Foster economic and professional equality between women and men (salaries, working conditions, discrimination).
Encourage equitable task sharing and support work-family balance.
Increase gender parity in decision-making roles and support the growth of women’s leadership.
Join us in building a more inclusive and equitable construction industry.

The roundtables are made up of women who represent your voices, experiences, and realities, and we express our deep gratitude for their invaluable participation.
Section B – Starting and Taking Over a Business
This component includes the development of a new, high-value specialized training program.
Following the preparatory work, a clear strategic focus was chosen: supporting women entrepreneurs in the key stages following the acquisition of their RBQ license, a critical moment often identified as a major barrier.
Added value of the training program:
Section C – Campaign to Raise Awareness About Stereotypes
Elles de la construction are taking action through workshops, conferences, and awareness campaigns. These initiatives target external audiences to highlight non-traditional trades and contribute to a lasting change in perceptions.
The next step involves your participation in an in-person event in April 2026, bringing together the project committee of tradeswomen as well as anyone interested in getting involved.
The in-person meetings will also serve as a platform to enrich infographics on the physical and mental well-being of women in construction. This data will support the launch of a media awareness campaign aimed at highlighting non-traditional trades.
