The training “Ergonomics and Material Handling in Construction”, designed to prevent musculoskeletal disorders
This training is designed for construction workers who perform tasks on job sites and want to reduce the risk of injuries associated with their daily work. It focuses on preventing injuries to the back, shoulders, knees, and upper limbs through the adoption of safe and efficient work practices. Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are among the leading causes of workplace illness, absenteeism, and functional limitations in the construction industry.
Tailored to the realities of construction sites, this training provides practical solutions to help reduce chronic pain and premature physical wear and tear on the body. Participants will learn how to minimize physical strain, reduce unnecessary effort, properly use mechanical aids and ergonomic tools, optimize movement techniques, and implement recovery and workload management strategies. These skills contribute to improved health, safety, productivity, and career longevity in the construction trades.
Construction workers are among those most at risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). Nearly 1 in 10 MSD-related injuries in Quebec occurs in the construction sector. These injuries are directly linked to the physical demands of the job, including repetitive movements, awkward postures, heavy lifting, and material handling tasks performed daily on construction sites.
A Training Program on the Prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs)
Whether you are a self-employed worker, employee, employer in the construction industry, general contractor, union member, health and safety representative, foreman, or project manager looking to strengthen workplace safety, discover a training program designed to address a real need on construction sites: “Ergonomics and Material Handling in Construction.” This training provides a practical understanding of risk factors associated with awkward postures, static exertion, repetitive tasks, vibration exposure, mechanical compression, and organizational constraints. It also offers concrete solutions that can be directly applied in the field to help reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders and workplace injuries.
Take action to improve prevention practices on construction sites by choosing the “Ergonomics and Material Handling in Construction” training program. Help strengthen workplace safety while supporting workers’ long-term health and well-being, and promoting a better quality of life both on and off the job.

What is offered to you
A concrete approach
Focused on real construction site situations and practical demonstrations, this training promotes the identification of key risk factors for the development of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), the recognition of awkward postures, and the integration of ergonomic strategies aimed at reducing their impact on the body when performing material handling tasks on construction sites.
A deeper understanding
Technical explanations help participants better understand the basic principles of ergonomics applied to construction work, as well as the biomechanical impacts of awkward postures and the relevant anthropometric and biomechanical considerations. This contributes to improved injury prevention.
Enriching exchanges
By bringing together professionals from the construction industry, this training creates a space for peer exchange. Sharing experiences and group discussions help enrich practices and strengthen learning.
The instructor, Stéphanie L’Heureux
Through L’Ergonome futée, Stéphanie L’Heureux supports organizations in creating efficient, comfortable, and safe work environments, helping to protect teams while also enhancing organizational performance. She works within the construction sector with both employers and employees to prevent workplace injuries on construction sites and reduce occupational burnout. Construction sites require a high level of physical adaptability, particularly when handling heavy materials and tools. This calls for concrete work strategies that take workers’ morphological characteristics into account in order to reduce musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).

Ergonomics consultant
Holds a graduate diploma in ergonomics from École Polytechnique de Montréal and a bachelor’s degree in design, Stéphanie L’Heureux combines scientific analysis of work with a creative problem-solving approach. This dual expertise enables her to design realistic solutions and teach strategies adapted to the daily realities of workers. With 15 years of experience, she has conducted hundreds of interventions and training sessions across various sectors. Her approach focuses on preventing workplace injuries and reducing pain, while also supporting productivity. She places the individual at the center of her practice and provides practical, autonomous tools that can be applied directly in the workplace.
