Elles de la construction partners with the ACQ to enhance support for women in trade camps
Elles de la construction partners with the ACQ to enhance support for women in trade camps

January 13th, 2026

Elles de la construction are proud to announce their commitment as an official partner of the Construction Trades Camps project, led by the Quebec Construction Association (ACQ), as part of the funding application submitted to the Commission des partenaires du marché du travail (CPMT).

This strategic partnership aims to actively strengthen the participation, conversion, and retention of women in the construction industry.

“Our upcoming collaboration with the ACQ will allow us to be present on the ground to support these women from their very first experiences discovering the trades. By joining forces, we will be able to provide them with privileged access to a community, resources, and practical tools that support their journey and help remove barriers that are still far too common,” says Crystelle Cormier, Executive Director of Elles de la construction.

Conversion and Information Support at the Construction Trades Camps

Elles de la construction will maintain an active presence on-site, notably at 8 out of 20 camps across Montérégie, Montreal, Mauricie, Laval, Québec City, and other regions.

Our key actions include:

  • Physical presence at major Construction Trades Camps
  • Distribution of informational materials and answering participants’ questions at all camps
  • Personalized support to remove barriers, including:
    • Prejudices and stereotypes
    • Work-family balance
    • Pay equity
    • Physical requirements
    • Employment inclusion
  • Immediate connection to the Elles network to build an initial support circle from the camp itself
  • Follow-up and ongoing support after the camp

Structured Support After the Construction Trades Camps

Following their participation, Elles de la construction is committed to providing personalized, ongoing human support to help participants take concrete first steps into the construction industry.

This support specifically includes:

  • Individual guidance and access to training offered by Elles de la construction (EDLC) to facilitate initial integration into the sector
  • Connections to trade schools and training pathways tailored to each participant’s profile, goals, and circumstances
  • Orientation to key industry stakeholders, depending on identified needs:
    • Employers
    • Unions
    • Training institutions
  • Promotion of the Women Integration in Construction (F.I.C.) program, a recognized tool supporting graduation, skill development, and access to existing training programs
  • Invitations to Elles de la construction events and activities, allowing participants to expand their network among professionals, entrepreneurs, managers, architects, engineers, and tradeswomen
