CRYSTELLE CORMIER BECOMES EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ELLES DE LA CONSTRUCTION
The organization’s new leader is committed to highlighting the contributions of women in the construction sector while working to improve retention rates.
The Board of Directors of Elles de la construction is pleased to announce the appointment of Crystelle Cormier as Executive Director. In office since July 7, 2025, she succeeds Gaëlle Gilles, who led the organization with consistency and success over the past five years.
A broad and ambitious mandate lies ahead for the new Executive Director. Her long-term mission will include ensuring the sustainability of the organization, developing its financial independence, and building a strong corporate network. She will also aim to significantly increase individual memberships, as women remain underrepresented despite their growing presence in the industry.
A solid foundation of experience
Crystelle Cormier brings extensive experience from a related sector, with more than seven years in employer organization management and governance. This includes four years as CEO of the Association québécoise de la quincaillerie et des matériaux de construction (AQMAT), where she stood out for her ability to meet challenges with rigor, creativity, and confidence.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from HEC Montréal and a graduate diploma in marketing from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), along with specialized training in crisis management (HEC) and governance (Université Laval).
Breaking barriers: a driving force
“I’m very proud to begin this role in such an exciting sector, full of potential for transformation,” said Crystelle Cormier, Executive Director of Elles de la construction.
“In the past 25 years, the share of women in the construction industry has risen from 0.5% to 4%*. Systemic barriers still exist—and that’s exactly what motivates me to fully commit. The needs in this industry are great, so let’s build the future together!”
