Inspiring testimonials that shed light on our professions in the construction industry
Inspiring testimonials that shed light on our professions in the construction industry

November 10th, 2025

As part of our Diversity and Inclusion program, we offer video clips and authentic testimonials that highlight women working in the construction industry. These real stories help shed light on the wide range of trades available to women—many of which remain little known to the general public.

This initiative aims not only to raise awareness about the realities faced by women in the construction industry, but also to provide them with the tools they need to thrive and succeed in their careers. By highlighting their skills and essential contributions, we strive to break down stereotypes and inspire lasting change within the industry.

Nathalie, Driver at Transport Canada

Nathalie, a snowplow driver in the winter and a flatbed truck driver in the summer for the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable du Québec (MTMD), reminds us that with passion and perseverance, anything is possible. This job allows her to balance professional and family life, and she says she is happy to go to work every morning—a dimension she wishes to share with everyone.

"When you’re driving, being a woman or a man doesn’t make any difference at all!"

On her desk sits an old photo of a woman changing a tire during the war—a reminder that women have always been capable of taking on challenges considered masculine, and a message of hope for all those who dream of bold careers.

Myreille, Pipefitter

A pipefitter for nearly nine years, Myreille Gagnon now works in natural gas at Marathon Gas Division. Her journey hasn’t been without challenges, but she has persevered and thrives in her profession.

"Doing what you want, not letting yourself be stopped by people’s judgment… Because if I had listened to the world around me, I wouldn’t be sitting here today."

Alyson Lapointe, Pipefitter

A pipefitter for 10 years, Alyson Lapointe works on construction sites with passion and determination. More than just a job, it’s a calling: she wants to show that women belong in the construction industry and create a welcoming environment for those who follow.

"What’s important to me is to open this door—and keep it open—so that those who come after feel truly welcomed."

On her current site, there are six women—a first for her. A sign that progress is being made.

Jade Payer, Project Manager

Initially a welder and then a steel assembler, Jade Payer has made her mark in a field still largely dominated by men. Today, as a Project Manager at Groupe Axiomatech Inc., she leads teams and oversees major projects, proving that the construction industry is a place where women fully belong.

Josée Dufour, Entrepreneur in Construction

Josée Dufour chose to follow her passion for construction, despite barriers and prejudice. Making her mark in a predominantly male industry wasn’t easy, but she adapted, innovated, and built her success.

"You can see an obstacle as a roadblock in your life, or you can see it as an opportunity. It’s all about how you perceive what comes your way."
