A National Company Rooted in People
Founded in 1972, Cooper Equipment Rentals is the only national equipment rental company in Canada, with over 85 branches across the country. It provides reliable equipment solutions, supported by teams dedicated to safety and service excellence. Cooper proudly supports initiatives that empower women in the construction industry and promote an inclusive workplace.
Concrete Actions to Support Women
The company’s commitment to women is reflected through concrete and sustainable actions. Cooper Equipment Rentals implements initiatives designed to create an environment where women feel supported, recognized, and empowered to grow with confidence. The planned launch in 2026 of a women’s employee resource group will foster connection, mentorship, and professional development.
The “Your Climb” program also highlights the career paths and achievements of women across the organization.
Development, Visibility, and Leadership
Participation in external training programs and networking opportunities is actively encouraged, particularly through CAWIC. Each year, International Women’s Day is recognized, and leadership development is supported through the LEAD program. These initiatives help strengthen confidence, visibility, and a sense of belonging among women within the organization.
An Inclusive and Equitable Workplace
Inclusion is also reflected in internal practices. Job descriptions are reviewed through a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens, and annual compensation structure analyses are conducted to ensure pay equity. A respectful workplace policy promotes safety and accountability. Mental health and wellness support is offered through specialized programs, and particular attention is given to providing personal protective equipment properly adapted for women working in the field.

Women in Leadership Positions
These commitments are reflected in tangible results. Since 2023, female representation in senior leadership roles has increased. Lisa Grago holds the position of Chief Human Resources Officer, Violet Pearce was recently appointed Vice President, People & Culture, Debbie Mackie became Regional Director for Northern Ontario in 2023, and Véronique Robitaille has served as Regional Director for Quebec since 2021. These appointments demonstrate a genuine commitment to ensuring women have a seat at the table where decisions are made.
A Meaningful Partnership
As highlighted by Véronique Robitaille, Regional Director for Quebec, “At Cooper Equipment Rentals, we view diversity and inclusion as essential to the future of construction. Supporting Elles de la construction is a way to support the women shaping the industry today and tomorrow.”
By showcasing women in the field, in workshops, in offices, and in leadership roles, the company is helping to transform industry culture. When women rise, the entire construction industry moves forward.
