Starting Out in Construction with the Right Tools: Aïcha Djebari’s Story
Starting Out in Construction with the Right Tools: Aïcha Djebari’s Story

January 8th, 2026

Starting a construction business on solid foundations makes all the difference. A well-structured training program helps avoid costly mistakes and builds confidence. With this in mind, the École des entrepreneurs du Québec has developed a training program for women entrepreneurs and business successors in the construction sector, aimed at supporting women who want to start, organize, or grow their business in this field.

The journey of Aïcha Djebari, a general contractor, perfectly illustrates the real-world impact of this training

An Entrepreneurial Journey Rooted in Construction

Active in the field for over seven years, Aïcha started with epoxy flooring work before expanding her skills, particularly in carpentry and joinery. Today, she is a general contractor, running a company specialized in excavation, residential renovations, extensions, bathrooms, and basements.

While the operational side of construction is part of her daily work, Aïcha quickly realized that management, administration, and business structure are just as essential to success.

Structured Support from Start to Finish

“The business start-up training at the École des entrepreneurs du Québec gave me access to a very well-designed online platform, both for financial forecasts and for the business plan. And most importantly, I benefited from personalized support with a coach over several months. These are not half-hearted follow-ups. Everything is structured, you know where you stand, and you move forward step by step. The coach provides readings, tools, and concrete guidance.”

Among all the content offered, Aïcha clearly identifies the modules that are most crucial for a woman entrepreneur in construction:

  • Business administration, adapted to the realities of the sector
  • Accounting, to fully understand responsibilities and numbers
  • Health and safety on construction sites, an essential pillar in the industry

“These are fundamental basics. When you hold a license, all responsibility falls on you. It’s important to fully understand what you’re committing to.”

This combination of concrete tools and structured coaching allowed her to progress at her own pace, according to the stage she was at in her entrepreneurial project.

She also emphasizes the importance of raising women’s awareness of these issues, particularly when they hold an RBQ license in the company’s name.

She highlights the importance of discovering the entrepreneurial ecosystem, which is often little known to women who want to start a business.

Accessible and practical, this training provides all the essential tools to build a sustainable and realistic business project.

> Training available for $50 (estimated value of services: over $500)
